Ford Focus

Doug Ford was sworn in as Premier of Ontario in late June. Since that time he has moved swiftly, assertively, and some might say recklessly, on a number of fronts. Some of Ford’s actions have captured significant media attention, while others have gone largely unnoticed. But almost all of his actions have been calculated to dramatically alter or simply eliminate programs and initiatives put in place since the last time the Progressive Conservatives held office in Ontario.

In an effort to help OSSTF/FEESO members keep track of what the government is doing and undoing, Update presents this partial overview of the new government’s actions to date:

This short inventory represents the most significant of the Ford government’s undertakings over its first four months in office. We’ll keep a running list of the government’s actions on the Update website.

  1. Does Ford actually have a plan, other than repealing or cancelling every initiative the Liberals implemented?

Welcome to Harris 2.0. Expect rough weather ahead.

  3. Clearly Doug Ford is taking steps backwards instead of forwards. He has managed to attack those that are most vulnerable and has no interest in preserving our earth for future generations. Perhaps since he is living in the past he would consider a cut in his own pay check to save Ontario’s money!

In preparation for Doug Ford’s agenda, I re-read Mike Harris Made Me Eat My Dog by Linwood Barclay. Having survived Harris years, the book clearly aligns with the current government sentiments. Maybe a short history lesson, or at least a few laughs from this satirical book, could be seen as required reading by our membership.
