OSSTF/FEESO is partnering with JUMP Math to produce a new Grade 9 Math resource. JUMP Math is a charitable organization that is dedicated to “replacing math anxiety with an understanding and love of math in students and teachers.” Currently, the JUMP math program is available for students in kindergarten to Grade 8. The program provides student and teacher resources that use “structured inquiry” to teach math. More information on the program, including research results from an efficacy study conducted by Sick Kids, can be found at www.jumpmath.org.
The Provincial Executive is looking for 10 members interested in being part of a focus group to review and provide feedback on a draft JUMP Math resource for Grade 9 teachers and students.
