From Special Needs to Special Rights: Report from OSSTF/FEESO’s Symposium on Inclusive Education.

OSSTF/FEESO is pleased to release a final report on our Inclusive Education Symposium. Reflecting a highly resonant theme from the Symposium, the report is titled: From Special Needs to Special Rights: Report from OSSTF/FEESO’s Symposium on Inclusive Education.

In October 2022, OSSTF/FEESO held its first-ever Inclusion Symposium. The Symposium was an opportunity to bring together academics, board representatives, teachers, education workers, and community members to discuss a vision for inclusive education and the obstacles to achieving that vision.

Panelists and attendees participated in and contributed to a series of vibrant and exciting discussions on key elements of inclusive education. Following the keynote and panel discussions, attendees were invited to participate in facilitated roundtable discussions.

The content of those discussions, panels, and the keynote address have been synthesized into the From Special Needs to Special Rights: Report from OSSTF/FEESO’s Symposium on Inclusive Education. OSSTF/FEESO hopes this report will make a useful and positive contribution to ongoing efforts to ensure special education and inclusive education practices provide full supports to all students.
