The Provincial Executive is inviting applications to fill a vacancy from members to participate in the Organizing for Better Schools, Stronger Communities Work Group.
OSSTF/FEESO is looking for
one (1) member who is experienced in organizing members and the community as we continue to forge our work of the Strategic Action Plan (2024-2027). The Work Group will continue to make recommendations to the Provincial Executive and assist the Organizing staff in building the path forward with the Strategic Action Plan.
The 2023-2024 Organizing for Better Schools, Stronger Communities Work Group was structured into four (4) regional teams which included:
- Northern & Central Ontario
- Southwestern Ontario
- Greater Toronto Area—Ontario
- Eastern Ontario
The Work Group will have an expanded mandate with a focus on the following objectives:
- Continue to maintain a union-wide pulse on how the Strategic Action Plan is discussed and facilitated across the Federation.
- Continue to support Organizing staff in carrying out the work of the Strategic Action Plan.
- Develop training and resources for the Organizing Institute which will take place at the regional level with virtual and in-person trainings.
- Research and develop the way forward in “Bargaining for the Common Good” and how this can be centred in the Federation’s work for the years forward.
- Assist in expanding the OSSTF/FEESO Organizing Networks to build more rank and file member involvement and assist in building Local Strategic Action plans with their assigned regions.
The work group will meet up to four (4) times throughout the year, and applicants must be able to secure release time from their employer to attend. Applicants must also be available to travel for meetings and training, locally and internationally, if needed. Applicants should confirm their ability to secure release time through their Bargaining Unit President.
Ideal candidates for this workgroup will have a wealth of experience in member and community organizing and a demonstrated ability to engage members in leading to community action. OSSTF/FEESO welcomes all members to apply. We value the participation of members with various lived experiences.
