Petition Drive: Pressurizing Public Support for Public Education Funding  OSSTF/FEESO has engaged in a provincial petition drive for both members and community supporters to sign, challenging school board trustees and university governors to clearly advocate for funding increases. Over 40% of Ontario school boards declared deficits in their most recent budgets. University boards of governors continue the predatory practice of recruiting international students as “cash cows” to make up revenue and fund university operations. We must act. OSSTF/FEESO is leading the charge in addressing the system-wide funding gap. Our goal is to heighten attention of the crisis of underfunding education as a common good issue that affects everyone in Ontario. The defunding of the education system has had reverberating effects onto communities and will continue to be exacerbated if left unchallenged by stakeholders across Ontario.
