Common Threads VII

Common Threads V!!_Human Movement. 2 hands holding people walking
OSSTF/FEESO is thrilled to unveil Common Threads VII—the latest powerful resource from OSSTF/FEESO that brings global learning into Ontario classrooms. The full resource is now available at: Common Threads VII – Human Movement – Displaced Persons. OSSTF/FEESO’s global social justice initiative began in 2002 with the mandate to develop awareness in Ontario’s high school students of social justice issues. Common Threads VII: Human Movement: Displaced Persons is focused on three main themes:
  • In Search of Safety;
  • Creating Safe Harbour; and,
  • Evolving Communities.
Following eye-opening travels to European and North American cities in July 2023, our team spent the past year diving deep into research, writing, and collaboration. The result? A rich, engaging, and ready-to-use collection of lessons and activities that align with Ontario’s English curriculum and go far beyond the textbook. Organized by subject and theme, this resource makes it easy for educators to find what they need—and deliver lessons that resonate. Whether you’re in the classroom, library, guidance office, or leadership role, there’s something here for you. Included are raw, honest, and moving interviews with Ontario residents who’ve lived through displacement. These voices—available in three English versions, ASL with voice-over, French, and Spanish—offer students a deeply human connection to global issues. This is more than a resource—it’s a conversation starter, a bridge builder, and a call to action. Dive in. Share it. Teach with it. Inspire with it.
