The CLC is calling for nominations of individuals to participate in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference May 22 to June 5, 2026. The Leadership Conference brings together 250 Canadians from labour, business, government and the community sector for a two week, cross-Canada experience. During the 2026 Leadership Conference participants will be exploring the theme “Leading Canada’s Sustainable Prosperity” through an opening plenary hosting global leaders, followed by study tours across Canada and a report back session to the Governor General.

Conference participants come from different regions, perspectives and careers. All members share one thing in common – they are typically mid-career, ages 28 – 45 with a high potential to achieve senior leadership positions in their organizations and communities in the next 10 years.

Participants are expected to have a capacity for leadership; to be able to contribute to the effective working of a group; to have well developed interpersonal skills; to be able to undertake the intensive program travel schedule and to have a genuine interest in the overall theme and topics that are the concern of the Conference. Applicants will be screened and, in most cases, interviewed by the program.

Applications are to be submitted online to the Conference by September 30, 2025, and can be found at www.leadershipcanada.ca along with criteria and guidelines (including sponsor information). Evidence of sponsor endorsement and support is required by all applicants.
All member expenses for travel, food and lodging are covered by the Conference. The local District/Bargaining Unit is responsible for the cost of travel to the opening in Quebec City, Quebec and from the closing in Ottawa-Gatineau, and any release time costs. Interested applicants are responsible for securing this commitment prior to applying. Those seeking a letter of recommendation from OSSTF/FEESO to support their application must submit their request to Jessica Burnie at jessica.burnie@osstf.ca by September 15, 2025.
Additional information can be obtained from the www.leadershipcanada.ca website.
