OSSTF/FEESO Pushes Back on Bill 33

OSSTF/FEESO is standing strong against Bill 33: The Supporting Children and Students Act, 2025. This legislation threatens equity, transparency, and democratic governance in Ontario’s schools and campuses.
Why We Oppose Bill 33
- Centralization of Power: Hands sweeping control to the Minister of Education, silencing local trustees and community voices with threat of removing school board democracy altogether.
- Police in Schools: Mandates Student Resource Officers (SRO) programs despite clear evidence of harm to racialized and marginalized students.
- Attack on Post-Secondary Autonomy: Undermines colleges and universities by restricting admissions, research, and student fees—eroding academic freedom. OSSTF/FEESO has been a signatory alongside the Ontario Colleges and Universities Coalition (OUCC) statement against Bill 33.
What We’re Demanding
- Public, transparent audits of school boards.
- Mandatory social workers and child & youth workers where SROs are imposed.
- Increased, stable funding for colleges and universities.

Take Action
The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) is leading a fightback campaign to stop Bill 33. OSSTF/FEESO members are urged to join, amplify, and mobilize. Together, we can demand real solutions for safe schools: smaller classes, more staff, and fully funded public education.
