Protecting Credit Integrity in Ontario Schools: World Café

People having an intense conversation

The deadline to submit expressions of interest to participate in OSSTF/FEESO’s Credit Integrity World Café has been extended to Friday, November 21 at 4:00 p.m.

As part of OSSTF/FEESO’s ongoing commitment to defending public education, we are launching a study into practices and programs that may affect the integrity of secondary school credits across Ontario.

Through worksite visits and member conversations, the Provincial Executive has heard growing concerns—from assessment decisions being overridden by administrators, to credits being awarded through alternative mechanisms without sufficient demonstration of subject mastery. At the same time, members have emphasized the importance of maintaining diverse pathways to credit achievement, ensuring all students have equitable opportunities to succeed.

To gather deeper insights, OSSTF/FEESO is hosting a Credit Integrity World Café on November 25, 2025, with 30 participants ensuring diverse representation across geography and social identities.

This virtual event is designed to engage teacher members in meaningful dialogue. This qualitative research method involves three rounds of small-group discussions, allowing participants to share experiences and ideas in a collaborative setting.

Further reports will be coming in Spring 2026.
