Ontario Health Coalition Health Action Assembly

The 2026 Health Action Assembly, organized by the Ontario Health Coalition, will take place on January 24–25, 2026 at the Central YMCA in Toronto, with an option to attend virtually through Zoom. The event brings together advocates, community groups, and concerned residents to discuss key developments in Ontario’s healthcare system, including recent privatization efforts, the status of public health funding, and enforcement of the Canada Health Act. This year’s keynote speaker is Linda McQuaig, a renowned journalist and social activist who writes extensively on inequality and privatization. Additional speakers will be announced.

Throughout the weekend, participants will receive briefings on major healthcare issues, review the impact of recent advocacy campaigns, compare Ontario’s direction to that of other provinces, and help shape a collective plan of action for the coming year. Registration is offered on a sliding-scale fee structure to ensure accessibility, with lower-cost options and subsidies especially available for members of local health coalitions. A discounted hotel rate is also available for out-of-town attendees. Overall, the Assembly is designed as a strategy-building event for defending and strengthening public health care in Ontario.
