Benevolent Council

Blocks with the words APPLY NOW

Provincial Council is seeking a new District to assume responsibility for Benevolent Council as District 21, Hamilton-Wentworth, currently assigned to the Council, is in the fourth and final year of its term.

Benevolent Council plays a vital role within the Federation, providing grants to active members experiencing extreme financial need due to prolonged illness, accident, or other emergencies. The Council meets at the call of the Chairperson, typically after the school day, a minimum of six times per school year to review applications.

Districts are encouraged to apply to serve on the Benevolent Council and continue this important work. Interested Members should submit an application using the online form available on the OSSTF/FEESO website Online Application Form.

The Benevolent Council is composed of six voting members from the District, along with at least one of the District’s Provincial Councillors, who serves as a non-voting member and the PC Liaison. If you are considering applying, we recommend discussing it with your District President and other members to confirm interest, as a single applicant cannot be considered.

The term for the Benevolent Council is one year, with the possibility of a three-year extension if the first year is successfully completed.

For full details, including eligibility requirements, please refer to the Terms of Reference and Statement of Needs 2026-2027 Terms of Reference and Statement of Needs.

The deadline for submitting an application is March 1, 2026.
