The Women’s Advocate Program was developed to provide support to members experiencing or impacted by domestic violence. In addition to employers, OSSTF/FEESO knows unions have a role to play in protecting and supporting women in need. OSSTF/FEESO will train Women’s Advocates to work in every District.

OSSTF/FEESO has added an additional training session for delegates in areas where there are either no advocates trained or the District’s full complement of delegates were not trained during the initial training in November 2020.

The Women’s Advocate training session will occur from July 7–8, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. each day. You must be a District-approved Women’s Advocate delegate to attend this training. OSSTF/FEESO asks advocates to commit to participating for at least two years in the program. Newly selected Women’s Advocates are encouraged to register for this training.

Delegates should register on the OSSTF/FEESO CVENT site

REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ON June 25 @ 4:00 P.M.

Members who self-identify as a woman, or as non-binary are eligible delegates for this program.

Resources
OSSTF/FEESO has created a Women’s Advocate Program ‘badge’ with resources on the provincial website. Currently, there are posters to advertise the Women’s Advocate Program in your District and pamphlets that provide information about the Women’s Advocates. There are also two resource videos that can be found on the site.

  1. An Overview of the OSSTF/FEESO Women’s Advocate Program
  2. Implementing a Women’s Advocate Program in your District
