Women’s news affair program launched with OSSTF/FEESO support

On September 26, 2021, a new, fresh and under-represented voice came to Ontario—UNINVITED—a news affair program produced by Working Ontario Women and jointly sponsored by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO).

With the lack of women’s issues news programming on television, radio, print and social media, the three unions, all with strong majorities of women members, believe it’s time that women had a more prominent voice in the political arena and in public policy.

The program will concentrate on issues that affect women and their families including childcare, publicly-funded education, good jobs and equal pay, health care and long term care.  The program will demonstrate the strength of women but also the challenges women face in the pandemic and post-pandemic world. The program will speak truth to government and society.

The program will feature prominent community guests and be hosted by former CP24 reporter and anchor Karman Wong.  The program will also highlight community input through a public speaking venue entitled—I’m Speaking.  The program will be available 24/7 on the WOW website and will also include political cartoons.  The news programs will be produced and broadcast every other week.
