Webinar Series – See Us, Learn Us: A New Perspective on Teaching Identity, Belonging and the Black Canadian Experience

Join Greg and Coleen Birkett for their interactive and engaging multi-session webinar series aimed to provide educators with new perspectives on strengthening identity and belonging at school through teaching and learning about the Black Canadian experience. This five-part, multi-media series uses videos, music, the spoken word, and more.

Participants will:

  • receive practical strategies and knowledge that can immediately be embedded into teaching and learning practices;
  • gain professional learning opportunities to connect and collaborate with the presenters as well as educators across Canada;
  • receive an individualized professional learning certificate upon completion of this series.

Members interested in attending this webinar series can apply to Provincial Account #2016 for reimbursement of expenses related to the registration/course fee. Please contact your District to submit your application.

Session 1: Early Black Presence in Canada (February 7, 2023)

Session 2: Black Canadian Communities (February 21, 2023)

Session 3: Anti-Black Racism and Resistance (March 7, 2023)

Session 4: Black Canadian Culture (March 21, 2023)

Session 5: Black Canadian Excellence (April 4, 2023)
