Invitation for Applications for the Community Organizing Implementation Ad Hoc Work Group (2023-2024)
The Provincial Executive is inviting applications from members to participate in the newly formed Community Organizing Implementation Ad Hoc Work Group, as approved at AMPA 2023 as part of the Strategic Action Plan 2023-2024’s Organizing for Better Schools, Stronger Communities.
OSSTF/FEESO is looking for up to ten (10) Members who are experienced community activists with expertise to help us strengthen our relationships and outreach to communities across the province. This Implementation Ad Hoc Work Group shall continue the work of advising the Provincial Executive as well assisting with the execution of the OSSTF/FEESO Organizing Institute.
The work group will continue research best practices for community organizing as well assisting in the development of the resources, trainings, and materials for the Organizing Institute.
Our priority will be to build a discourse on what it means to foster and build trust with various community groups at both the provincial and local level.
Ideal candidates for this work group will have a wealth of experience in community organizing as well as demonstrated ability in engaging members in leading to community action. It is open to all Members of OSSTF/FEESO to apply and encourage those who identify as equity/sovereignty seeking groups to self-identify as listed in the application.
The work group will meet up to six times throughout the year and applicants must be able to secure release time from their employer in order to attend. Applicants must also be available to travel for meetings, trainings both locally and internationally as required. Applicants should confirm their ability to secure release time through their Bargaining Unit president.
