100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women Symposium—Building a Black History Curriculum
Effective September 2025, Black history will be included in the history curriculum for Grades 7, 8, and 10. It will highlight how Black communities contributed to Canada pre-and post-Confederation, including the obstacles they faced in establishing themselves in Canada.
On Friday, September 27th, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST (Toronto), the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women organization will host a symposium to collaboratively tap into collective expertise in defined subject areas that will cover topics such as:
- Pre 1867 (Pre-Confederation)
- 1867-1982 (Confederation to Repatriation of Constitution)
- 1982 to present (Constitution to today)
Members of the public have been invited to register for this FREE event.
Following the symposium, the 2024 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women (100ABC Women) Book Launch and Award Ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 28th, 2024.
