Education Day of Action—Wednesday, April 29
OSSTF/FEESO will be joining a province-wide, multi-education affiliate ‘Education Day of Action’ on April 29, 2026.
As we move into bargaining and facing threats to public education from the Ford government, OSSTF/FEESO is encouraging its members, leaders, parents, and communities to participate in this province-wide Education Day of Action. This day is a simple but powerful way to show collective strength and raise awareness about the urgent need for increased investment in public education.
This is our opportunity to stand in solidarity with teachers and education workers from ETFO, AEFO, OECTA, and OSBCU/CUPE across the province and demonstrate a united call for a strong, well-funded public education system in Ontario.
Members are encouraged to participate in simple, visible actions, including wearing red and purple and engaging in site-based activities where possible. Using the hashtags #Red4Ed, #EducationDayofAction, and tagging OSSTF/FEESO accounts on social media is encouraged.
Here are some possible actions that you could arrange for members:
- Reach out to your local affiliates to coordinate actions
- Wear Red for Ed shirts (all affiliates) or purple (CUPE)
- Hold multi-affiliate school-based gathering where members could complete posters for online photo opportunities
- Organize an in-school coffee/snack for an online photo opportunity wearing red and/or purple shirts
- Talk to friends and family about the importance of funding public education, from pre-kindergarten to postsecondary, for our students’ futures
- Post group photos online to create a province-wide social media blitz
Graphics will be added to this Dropbox for use on social media and for communications to your members.
April 29 has the potential to become a strong, unified province-wide demonstration of solidarity in support of public education and will build power for all affiliates as we head into bargaining.
Thank you for your continued leadership in supporting this collective effort. For more information about this D/BU, please contact Tracey.Marshall@osstf.ca or Allison.Cillis@osstf.ca.
