2023 Ontario Liberal Party Leadership Election

On December 2, 2023, the Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) members elected Mississauga Mayor and former Member of Parliament (MP) Bonnie Crombie as the new leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.

After three rounds of ballot counting, Crombie beat Liberal MP Nate Erskine-Smith, Liberal MP and former provincial cabinet minister Yasir Naqvi, and former Liberal MP and current provincial caucus member, Ted Hsu, at the Ontario Liberal leadership convention. During this election, the OLP’s new weighted, non-delegated, all-member vote was used for the first time since the policy was passed at the party’s 2023 annual meeting.

The Ontario Liberal Plan for Education

As an apolitical union, OSSTF/FEESO is committed to protecting and enhancing public education from kindergarten to postsecondary education. A strong, publicly-funded education system is essential for Ontario’s future. The federation will continue to work with local leaders to lobby their Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP) to commit to strengthening public education.
