Equity Mentorship Program Mentor Statement of Interest (2024-2026)

The Provincial Executive is seeking up to fifteen (15) members to serve as mentors in the Equity Mentorship Program (EMP) 2024-2026. The EMP is an initiative that supports members of First Nations, Métis, Inuit and equity-seeking groups who are interested in developing their leadership capacity within the organization and/or the wider labour movement. It provides opportunities and builds networks with the Federation.

OSSTF/FEESO is seeking Members who have experience with any or all of the following:

• District/Bargaining Unit operations, governance and electoral processes
• District/Bargaining Unit Executive positions and/or Provincial Councillors
• Provincial Committees/Councils/Work Groups/Writing Teams/Presenters

All reasonable expenses such as meals, travel, accommodations, as necessary, and dependent care, where applicable, incurred by EMP members in their work as mentors will be covered by OSSTF/FEESO as per the 2024-2025 Federation Activities Allowable Expenditures Guidelines. OSSTF/FEESO is dedicated to equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression while protecting and enhancing public education. We are committed to cultivating an inclusive Program that reflects the diversity of our members and our communities. OSSTF/FEESO also values the participation of members with various lived experiences.

Members selected to participate in the Equity Mentorship Program must be able to secure time release from their employer, paid for by OSSTF/FEESO. Applicants should verify with their local President that there are no restrictions on time release from their Bargaining Unit. Individuals appointed to the Equity Mentorship Program and their Bargaining Unit President will be notified, following approval by the Provincial Executive.
