White Ribbon Incel Radicalization Survey to Members

White Ribbon, with representatives from professional bodies in education, community, child and youth services, and mental health sectors, are engaged in a five-year project titled Professionalizing the Practice: An Incel Radicalization Prevention Program. OSSTF/FEESO is participating in this project which will raise awareness and equip frontline practitioners with evidence-based training, tools, and collaboration opportunities, to stop Incel violence before it begins; intervene when there are risk factors and warning signs; and support male youth to get the help they need to not be drawn into, and/or to disengage from the Incel movement. The program will professionalize the practice within Ontario and include a social marketing campaign, a series of online training modules, and practical tools.

The ‘professionalizing the practice’ approach builds on evidence-based resources and practices to support and guide effective and bias-sensitive countering radicalization to violence (CRV). These prevention and intervention initiatives will include online and offline radicalization prevention.

This project will increase competency to identify the signs, know how to intervene effectively and prevent Incel radicalization from happening in the first place. The project will focus on teaching professionals about healthy dating and masculinities, advancing the norm of males seeking help, and debunking myths held by individuals at-risk of Incel radicalization. The project will also promote professional standards and multisectoral collaboration to ensure systemic, transformative changes to counter Incel radicalization. The timeframe for this project is June 2023 to March 2028.

We are encouraging all our members to complete this survey to help provide data and insight that will be used to inform the training and tools that will be produced. Please use the following link to access the survey.
