A huge congratulations to Sharon Lee, winner of the 2026 OTIP Secondary Teacher Award!

Sharon, who teaches at Downsview Secondary School in the Toronto District School Board, transitioned from a career behind the chair as a professional hair stylist, Sharon brought her passion into the classroom by turning a voluntary barbering club into an accredited, credit-granting high school course that launches real student careers!

Her groundbreaking approach to education shines through vibrant, cross-curricular projects—like a full-school benefit sale uniting math, science, business, and tech design. Beyond curriculum, Sharon touches every corner of her school community by fostering student agency, recognizing growth, and giving every young person a true place to shine.
