Sisters in Spirit 2022

On October 4th, Indigenous community members, and concerned citizens are gathering for a vigil to honour the memory of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, gender diverse and two-spirit people. Vigils are taking place in many communities across Canada as well as internationally. These gatherings assist in raising awareness and providing support to families who have lost a loved one.

This year, supporters are asking that the recommendations of the The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls be implemented immediately.

Each year, a score card on the status of the 231 calls to justice in the report is created in conjunction with the Native Women’s Association of Canada.

OSSTF/FEESO is encouraging Members to attend their local vigils. A vigil can take many forms, including a moment of silence to a rally, to a community feast. For more information on Sisters in Spirit vigils, visit the local Facebook page for your city.
