Important Independent Study on Workplace Violence

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) is strongly encouraging all members to take part in a new study on workplace violence. This, by University of Ottawa researchers Chris Bruckert and Darcy Santor is separate from the study that OSSTF/FEESO recently commissioned. What is particularly exciting about this study is that it the potential to be one of the largest studies ever conducted with education sector workers in Canada. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Ontario School Board Council of Unions (OSBCU), the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO), and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) are also encouraging their members to participate.

The researchers are particularly interested in hearing from Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, people living with disabilities, and other members of equity-seeking groups. We know that education workers and teachers who belong to these groups have experiences and perspectives that are vital to understanding and addressing workplace violence.

All members will be able to participate in the study until December 31st. To take the survey in either French or English, please visit https://uottawapsy.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3kMOhVp9rd8l9no.
